Jeremy came from a strong skateboarding and surfing background at very early age. Passionate about both sports he has stayed very involved in its roots and progression to this day! Growing up in the City of Artesia, CA it was a given that skating was the more dominant sport even though it's only 15 minutes away from the nearest beach; Seal Beach, CA. Yet, surfing was always surrrounding him by the influence of his two uncles, Carlos & Tony. His parents were hesitant to let him go surf with his uncles until he was a little bit older. In the meantime, the curiosity of the sport was building up each year as he would come home from school just to see a TV playing a surfing video or seeing the posters and magazines lying around in his uncles rooms. When he turned 12 years old his uncle gave him his first surfboard and he was allowed to go surf!
Growing up surfing everything from Seal Beach to Trestles he soon fell in love with the sport and its culture. At the age of 17 he shaped his first board which came from an old beat up 70's retro surfboard. After surfing it and realizing that it worked well to his surprise he began getting more blanks to shape. Board after board was getting glassed by a few different shops and soon he was was starting to get recognition by some of the top shapers he looked up to like Chris Kaysen of San Clemente and Ryan Sakal of Huntington Beach to name a few. It was Ryan Sakal though who ended up offering him a shaping job during the same year he began shaping. Being honored and yet surprised that he would be asked so early in his career gave Jeremy the confidence in knowing that he had reached a certain level of respect and immediately accepted Ryans offer. It may be safe to say that Jeremy had a raw talent for the craft early on but knew he had much to learn. And learning he did, over the years picking up the tricks of the trade from not only Ryan but many other shapers in the area. He also had the opportunity to shape boards for a couple pro surfers, Shawn "Barney" Barron and Killian Garland and had gotten remarkable compliments on them. Getting a call from Killian saying how stoked he was on it and how he was taking it to mexico was enough to fuel the fire that was inside of him to pursue his passion of shaping.
Today Jeremy still shapes at the comfort of his home in Artesia, Ca and gets his boards glassed in Huntington Beach, Ca. His goal is to continue making premium surfboards that push the progression of the sport and to soon own his own Storefront incorporating Surf, Skate, and Snow emphasizing the passion of the sports and how they have gone hand in hand since the beginning.
